Most broken computers don't need a new computer. They need a clean drive, more memory, a fresh battery, or a proper fix for whatever is grinding them down. We diagnose first, tell you in plain English what's wrong and what it costs, and only then start. If a repair costs more than the machine is worth, we'll say so — and help you pick a replacement and move everything over.
In New York, hauling a laptop across two boroughs to a repair counter and coming back three days later is half the problem. So we offer three ways to get it fixed: pickup and return ($149 flat plus parts), an on-site visit when the problem is easier to fix in place, or a remote session for software problems that don't need hands.
We work on Windows laptops and desktops from every major brand and on Macs (see Mac repair). Your files stay where they are: we image or back up the drive before any risky work, and we never wipe a machine without asking.
Call us if your computer…
- takes minutes to start or freezes when you open a browser
- shows a blue screen, a spinning wheel, or “no bootable device”
- sounds like a jet engine or shuts off when it's warm
- had something spilled on it (unplug it and don't turn it back on)
- keeps nagging about updates that never finish
- holds files you can't afford to lose and is starting to act up
SCOPE / WHAT YOU GET
What's included
Diagnosis you can understand
We find the actual cause — failing drive, overheating, bad update, malware, dying battery — and explain it before quoting
Speed-ups that last
SSD upgrades for machines still on spinning drives, memory upgrades, startup cleanup, and removing the bloat that came preinstalled
Hardware replacement
Batteries, SSDs, RAM, keyboards, fans, chargers and screens on most models, with parts quoted at cost before we order
Won't-boot rescues
Startup repair, failed updates, corrupted systems, and a clean reinstall with your files and apps put back
Spill and drop triage
Power down, dry, inspect, and recover data first — then an honest call on whether the board is worth repairing
New-computer moves
If replacing makes more sense, we set up the new one and move files, email, passwords, and printers so it feels like yours on day one
NEW YORK / WHAT WE SEE ON CALLS
New York is hard on computers.
Radiator season
Steam heat runs hot. Laptops parked on radiator covers and in tiny rooms overheat, throttle, and cook batteries. We clean fans, replace swollen batteries, and fix airflow.
Brownouts and surges
Summer heat strains the grid and brownouts and restore spikes kill power supplies and drives. A surge protector or UPS is a cheap insurance policy.
Small spaces, big spills
Kitchen-table offices mean coffee on keyboards. Fast triage — power off, no rice, bring it in — is the difference between a keyboard swap and a dead board.

FAQ / COMPUTER & LAPTOP REPAIR
Computer & laptop repair questions, answered.
How much does computer repair cost in NYC?
With us, the estimate is free. Remote fixes are $79 an hour with a 30-minute minimum, on-site visits are $129 an hour with a one-hour minimum, and pickup and bench repair is $149 flat plus parts. You get a flat quote before any work starts, so the number doesn't change halfway through.
Is it worth repairing a 5-year-old laptop?
Often, yes. A five-year-old laptop with a good screen and keyboard usually comes back to life with an SSD, more memory, or a new battery for well under the price of a new one. It's usually not worth it when the motherboard has failed, when the repair costs more than half of a comparable new machine, or when it can't run a supported version of Windows or macOS. We'll give you the honest math either way.
How long does a laptop repair take?
Software fixes are often done the same day, remotely or on-site. Bench repairs typically take one to three business days, longer if a part has to be ordered. We tell you the timeline with the quote.
Do you pick up and drop off?
Yes. Pickup and return across the five boroughs and Long Island is included in the $149 bench price. We collect the computer, repair it, and bring it back working.
Will I lose my files?
Not because of us. Before any risky repair we back up or image the drive, and we never wipe or reinstall without asking first. If the drive itself is failing, recovering your files is the first job.
I spilled something on my laptop. What do I do?
Unplug it, turn it off by holding the power button, and don't turn it back on to check. Don't put it in rice. Tip it so liquid drains away from the keyboard and call us. Getting it opened and dried quickly gives you the best chance of saving both the computer and the data.
Do you fix Macs too?
Yes. We repair and upgrade MacBooks and iMacs, and we'll tell you when a covered repair is better done free by Apple under warranty or AppleCare.
