Most bad Wi-Fi in New York isn't a bad internet plan. It's a router stuck in the front room behind the TV, signal fighting through plaster-and-lath walls or brick, and a dozen neighboring networks crowding the same channels. A faster plan won't fix any of that. Putting the right access points in the right places will.
We start with a survey: where the internet comes in, where you actually use it, what's in the walls, and how crowded the airwaves are. Then we recommend the least equipment that will do the job — sometimes a better position for your existing router, often a two- or three-node mesh system, and in tough buildings a wired backhaul over ethernet or the coax already in your walls.
We install it, name and secure the network, move every device over, set up a separate guest network if you want one, and leave you with the admin login written down. Hardware is quoted at cost, and if the gear you already own is good enough, we'll tell you.
You need this if…
- video calls freeze in one room but not another
- the speed test is great by the router and terrible everywhere else
- your extender shows full bars but nothing loads
- you have two or more floors, or rooms behind brick
- smart devices keep dropping off the network
- customers or staff complain about the office Wi-Fi

Site survey
Signal and interference readings room by room, before anyone buys anything
Mesh systems and access points
Placed for coverage, not convenience, with a wired backhaul where the walls demand it

NEW YORK / WHAT WE SEE ON CALLS
Why New York Wi-Fi is uniquely bad.
Plaster, lath, and brick
Prewar walls — especially ones with metal lath — and brownstone party walls absorb Wi-Fi. One router can't push through them; well-placed nodes can.
Crowded airwaves
In a big building, your router competes with dozens of neighbors. We pick clean channels and use 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands where they help.
Front-room installs
Installers drop the router where the cable enters — usually the far end of a railroad apartment. We bring the signal to where you live.

FAQ / WI-FI & MESH INSTALLATION
Wi-Fi & mesh installation questions, answered.
Mesh Wi-Fi or a Wi-Fi extender — which is better?
For most NYC apartments and houses, mesh. Extenders repeat a weak signal and often cut speed in half, and they create a second network name. A mesh system uses dedicated radios between nodes, keeps one network name, and hands your phone from node to node as you move. An extender can still be fine for one small dead spot.
How much does it cost to install mesh Wi-Fi?
Our installation is billed at $129 an hour on-site, and most apartments take one visit of one to two hours. Mesh hardware depends on the size of your space and is quoted at cost before you buy. We'll also tell you if better placement of your existing router is enough.
Why is my Wi-Fi suddenly so slow?
Common causes are a router that needs a restart or firmware update, a new neighbor's network crowding your channel, too many devices on the 2.4 GHz band, an internet outage in your area, or a device on your network hogging bandwidth. We check the line first, then the Wi-Fi, so you don't pay to fix the wrong thing.
The ethernet port in my apartment doesn't work. Why?
In many NYC buildings the wall jacks run to a closet or panel where they were never connected to anything, or they're wired for phone instead of data. We trace the cable, connect it properly where possible, and tell you if it needs the landlord or building.
Can you run cable without drilling in my rental?
Often, yes. We can use the coax already in your walls with MoCA adapters, run flat cable along baseboards, or rely on a strong mesh backhaul. If a job needs drilling, we'll tell you first so you can check with your landlord or board.
Should I switch internet providers?
Maybe, but fix the Wi-Fi first — it's the bottleneck far more often than the plan. If your building has fiber available, it's usually worth it. Our forum has a plain-English comparison of Fios, Spectrum, Optimum, and 5G home internet in NYC.
